Members of The International Salon of Decorative Finishers

Decorative Finishes are as old as humanity. From the cave paintings of Lascaux to the palaces of Europe, to our everyday living spaces, decorative finishes are a welcome addition in our lives. We, the decorative finishers, at Wild Horse Studio strive for perfection of this age old craft. We seek to carry on the traditions of the artists, while incorporating new and exciting methods. Through our faux, you can immerse your surroundings to reflect your personal style and mood. As decorative finishers, we push the envelope of creativity with a pigment of imagination.

For an explanation as well as examples of our faux finishes, click on the title of each of the faux finishes below.

Decorative Finishes - this category encompasses the broadest range of faux finishes. Studying nature and all of its color, dimension, depth, patterns, and variety, and then reproducing and interpreting that information with decorative finishes takes a vast amount of techniques and materials.

Trompe L'Oeil - "deceives the eye", a painting rendered in such great detail as to deceive the viewer concerning its reality.

Marble and Stones - there are hundreds of different marbles (veined and breccia), granites, and other stones. Since the beginning of decorative finishes, artists have been recreating stones on walls, doors, woodwork and furniture.  The purposes range from economics, to structural tolerance of a space to handle the actual stone, to the availability of the stone. For these reasons we imitate and faux what we cannot obtain from nature.

Plasters - decorative plasters have been adorning the walls of homes from popes to peasants. Wild Horse Studio offers plasters in the centuries old tradition. Or, with flair and imagination, we can create a whole new look for you.

Graining and Faux Bois - the simulation of natural woods. Studying the structure of trees and the way they are cut enables us to render authentic wood on any surface. Studying your environment provides us with the information to fashion what occurs naturally in nature to your personal space.

Murals - bringing other scenes into your area through painting to create another world.

Cabinets - no matter what your current look is, we can take out dated or "not you" cabinets and faux the look you desire.

Theater Sets & Canvas Paintings - Wild Horse Studio has paintings for sale as well as being commissioned for any type of painting desired. We also had a painting in the Netherlands in the Museum of Escher.

Custom Art - A vast display of the various forms of art we have created.
